According to Sky Sports, West Bromwich Albion forward Salomon Rondon’s proposed move to Newcastle United has hit a speedbump. The two clubs are reportedly struggling to come to terms on a final agreement for the Venezuelan striker, with the Baggies said to be desperate to keep hold of some of their core players as they attempt to bounce straight back up into the Premier League following their relegation last season.
Dwight Gayle was offered up as someone who could potentially turn this into a swap deal, but as it stands, that no longer appears to be a viable option with West Brom not willing to pay the wages necessary to bring him to the club.
Newcastle are currently attempting to keep hold of manager Rafa Benitez whilst also aiming to bring new players into the fold, with Mike Ashley receiving more criticism than ever before from the always passionate Newcastle fans.
