(GSM) – Milan owner Silvio Berlusconi does not believe that Antonio Cassano is as good as Ronaldinho, despite that the former is close to signing for the Serie A leaders.
Sampdoria forward Cassano, who fall out with the club after a spat with president Riccardo Garrone, has been told to remain at the club by a Serie A arbitration ruling.
However, it has emerged that Cassano’s club are now prepared to let the Italy international move to Milan on a free transfer, although Real Madrid will have to be paid €5m as part of a sell-on clause.
Despite the excitement of Milan fans, Berlusconi was played down the potential deal, insisting that Ronaldinho is better than Cassano.
When asked about the prospect of Cassano’s arrival at San Siro, the Milan president said: “So, so. Ronaldinho is better.”
But Milan vice-president Adriano Galliani has denied that Cassano’s arrival could signal the end of Ronaldinho’s career at the club, saying: “If Cassano arrives then he will replace Pippo Inzaghi, not Ronaldinho.”
