(GSM) – Manchester United have labeled rumors that star forward Wayne Rooney could be on his way out of the club as ‘nonsense’.
Rooney came on from the bench during Saturday’s Premier League clash with West Bromwich Albion, playing only 19 minutes in the match that ended in a 2-2 draw.
But United have quickly made a brief response to the stories surrounding Rooney’s future on the back of reports of the England star’s rift with manager Alex Ferguson.
“To suggest Wayne Rooney will be sold in January is nonsense,” said a club spokesman.
Rooney contradicted Ferguson’s words after denying ever having an ankle injury, a statement that is said to have angered the Scottish boss and fueled stories regarding Rooney’s uncertain future.
