“There’s lots of players who could come over and be very successful here. Paul Pogba, Marcus Rashford, players like that. I know Pogba loves coming to the States – his brother is here. So I’m sure he’d be a great signing for anyone”.
Those are the words of former Manchester United forward Wayne Rooney, who has revealed that there are several big names he could imagine doing well in Major League Soccer. Rooney made the jump over to the States last year, and so far, has done a pretty solid job of improving the state of affairs at DC United. Rooney is widely considered to be one of England’s greatest ever strikers, courtesy of his 13-year stint with Manchester United as well as his two spells with hometown club Everton.
Alas, while Pogba moving to America one day does indeed make sense, it doesn’t feel like it’s going to happen anytime soon. At the age of just 26 he still has a long time left in his prime at the highest level, and if he’s going to go anywhere, then Real Madrid seems like the most likely spot.
