Rooney right to stay – Ronaldo

(GSM) – Real Madrid star Cristiano Ronaldo believes Wayne Rooney did the right thing by committing his long-term future to Manchester United.

Rooney was close to moving away from Old Trafford before he signed a new contract with United.

“Rooney knows what’s best for his career so we have to respect his decisions,” Ronaldo said on Sky Sports News. “I think the best club for him is in Manchester, of course.”

Ronaldo departed from United to Real in 2009 for £80 million and there were rumors that Madrid were eager to sign Rooney so that they can reunite the duo before the England forward penned a new contract.
