Sky Sports understands that Wayne Rooney is set for talks and a medical with MLS outfit DC United.
The former England captain has been plying his trade in the Premier League for sixteen years but could now be set for a move to the US, following in the footsteps of former Manchester United teammate Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who moved to LA Galaxy earlier this year.
He returned to Everton – the club where he began his career – twelve months ago after winning a multitude of trophies in a thirteen year spell with Manchester United, and scored ten league goals taking his tally in the division to two hundred and eight, which puts him second only to Alan Shearer.
The thirty-two-year-old announced his retirement from international football back in August after winning one hundred and nineteen caps – more than any other outfield player in England’s history while he is also their all time top scorer with fifty-three goals.
