Rooney set for new Red Devils deal

The Mirror understands that Wayne Rooney is closing in on a new deal with Manchester United.

The thirty year old has three years remaining on his current contract, so a new offer would potentially lead to him ending his career at Old Trafford.

His performances in midfield for both club and country have impressed, and United bosses believe he can continue to have an influence on the team for years to come.

Rooney signed for the Red Devils from Everton in the summer of 2004 and has gone on to make five hundred and twenty appearances for the club in all competitions, scoring two hundred and forty-five goals.

He has won a whole host of major honours, with his latest success coming in the FA Cup last month.

Internationally, he is set to win his one hundred and fourteenth cap for England as they take on Slovakia in their final group game at Euro 2016 on Monday evening.
