(GSM) – Wayne Rooney’s chances of playing against Bayern München have increased after coming through a top secret training session.
The Manchester United star played in a special behind closed doors practice match, with the specific aim of going through set-pieces, as security guards patrolled the training ground to prevent prying eyes from witnessing the session.
Rooney also had a 40-minute shooting session late on Monday afternoon to suggest he is confident of playing in the Champions League quarter-final tie.
United manager Sir Alex Ferguson stated that he wouldn’t risk the England striker and claimed that Rooney had no chance of starting against Bayern after picking up an ankle injury in the first leg at the Allianz Arena.
But that seems to be an elaborate bluff by the Scottish coach with Rooney happy to do a full training session after apparently recovering from the injury he picked up just a week ago.
Ferguson sprung a few surprises in training yesterday, with Darron Gibson and Nani also included in the starting line-up he used to go through the set-piece routines.
But it is the presence of Rooney that is of massive interest for United fans, and it seems they will get their wish that their star man will play.
