(GSM) – Cristiano Ronaldo does not believe his former teammate Wayne Rooney will join him at Real Madrid this summer. It was reported that the Spanish giants wanted to sign England striker Rooney and hire his national team boss Fabio Capello as manager.

However, Ronaldo says Wayne Rooney is “very happy” in Manchester and would not want to move away from Old Trafford.

He told the News of the World, “I am still friends with Wayne Rooney, Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic at Manchester United.

“I think Rooney is very happy in Manchester and even if Real Madrid tried to sign him, I don’t think he would want to join me here.”

And when questioned if he would like to play under Capello, Ronaldo, who knows time is running out on current boss Manuel Pellegrini, admitted that he would find it exciting.

“Definitely,” he added. “He is a very important coach, one of the best in the world, he has done a fantastic job in England and has won many titles in Italy so why not?

“You never know.”
