Wayne Rooney has admitted that he would like to see Robin Van Persie sign for Manchester Untied this summer, reports the Daily Mail.
There has been plenty of speculation about the Dutchman’s future of course, with regular twists ever since he revealed he would not be signing a new deal at Arsenal.
Manchester United have been one of the most heavily linked clubs and now their current star man, Rooney, has urged the deal for Van Persie to press on.
The England striker said: “Last season was probably his best season of all, he scored a lot of goals. If he does come here he would be a great addition to the squad.”
Rooney went on to mention how exciting the prospect of his partnership with Van Persie could be at Old Trafford.
Not only were they the two leading scorers in the Premier League last season, but they should compliment each other very well indeed.
Nobody quite knows the latest on the Van Persie situation though. Sir Alex Ferguson has made it clear he wants to sign him, but speculation suggests that Arsenal aren’t willing to do business.
Rooney is keen for the deal to happen though and so are the Manchester United fans.
However, a fee still needs to be agreed before Van Persie to Old Trafford becomes anything like realistic.
