Rosler coy on Rodwell bid

Wigan Athletic manager Uwe Rosler has refused to rule out a loan move for Manchester City midfielder Jack Rodwell, according to the Mail Online.

The FA Cup holders, who beat City 2-1 to knock them out of this season’s competition at the Etihad Stadium at the weekend, won their fifth straight Championship match yesterday evening to move level on points with sixth place Reading.

Chris McCann has recently joined fellow midfielder Ben Watson on the injury list, leaving Rosler on the lookout for potential replacements ahead of the loan deadline towards the end of this month.

Rodwell has barely featured under manager Manuel Pellegrini, though his appearance against Watford in the fourth round of the FA Cup means he would be ineligible for the Latics’ quarter final against Arsenal if was to make the switch.

The England international, who cost the Sky Blues an initial fee of £12m in August 2012, has also been linked with a return to former club Everton, though that wouldn’t be until the end of the season.
