Rossi explains Palermo snub

Italian coach Delio Rossi has given his reasons behind the decision to reject a coaching job at Palermo few weeks back.

The experienced coach was sacked from the post as Palermo coach last season and then again reinstated before his contract expired at the end of the season.

Rossi received a call from Palermo president Maurizio Zamparini after Stefano Pioli was sacked at the start of this season, but he rejected a chance to return to Renzo Barbera.

“Zamparini called me and I was pleased to hear from him,” Rossi told Radio Deejay.

“He wanted to bring me back to Palermo, but now there simply aren’t the conditions to make that happen, because I’d left so recently.

“Looking at the transfer campaign that was in opposition to the approach we had taken before, I would’ve represented the past. I would not have been in the right place.”
