Real Salt Lake only managed a 1-1 draw against New York Red Bulls on opening night at the Rio Tinto Stadium.

The visitors from New York took the lead after 30 minutes with a goal by Dave Van Den Bergh, but the hosts equalized just eleven minutes later with a goal by Jamison Olave.

Real Salt Lake ace Javier Morales got a club record 15th assist of the season, but was not happy after the match.

“I would have been happier if we had won and I had not gotten the assist,” Morales said.

“It’s tough to play on the road, especially when a team is so pumped up to play for the first time in a new stadium, the crowd gets really into it,” said goalscorer van den Bergh after the match. “They get the referee with them — the whole game. It’s tough to get a result.”
