Rubin eyeing Aleksandr Anyukov

Rubin Kazan are weighing up a move for Zenit defender Aleksandr Anyukov, reports Russian daily Izvestia.

The Russian giants are looking to offload the full-back in the winter transfer window seeing as how he is no longer in the first team plans of coach Luciano Spalletti.

Anyukov has lost his place in the side following the arrival of Igor Smolnikov, with his place in the national team also in danger.

The 31-year-old is, therefore, hoping to leave Zenit in search of first team football and club chiefs are unlikely to stand in his way.

With the transfer window closed in most European countries, Anyukov looks likely to remain in Russian Premier League, where Rubin Kazan, Kuban Krasnodar and FK Krasnodar are showing interest.

Anyukov has spent last eight and a half years at Zenit having joined from Krylya Sovetov, making a total of 206 league appearances for the Russian giants.
