The agent of PSV Eindhoven captain Ola Toivonen has confirmed reports that his client is followed by a Russian Premier League club among others.
The Swedish forward, who has been converted to attacking midfielder at Philips Stadium, has seen his name linked with a number of high-profile sides over the last few months.
The player was watched by Tottenham scouts as Sweden beat Serbia in their final warm-up game for the Euro 2012 and it appears he is now ready to leave Dutch Eredivisie.
The player’s representative explains that they have received an enquiry from a Russian Premier League club.
“I am aware of the serious interest of a Russia club,” agent Martin Dahlin was quoted as saying in Voetbal International.
The Dutch newspaper reveals the club in question is Rubin Kazan, who is eager to sign the highly rated attacker.
“Until recently Toivonen was only open to clubs from so called big leagues. But, the economic situation in those countries means that we cannot exclude any major competition in advance,” Dalhlin added.
“Moreover, the Russian championship is getting better and better. Nobody can ignore that.”
The 25-year-old has been in scintillating form this season, scoring 18 goals in 33 Eredivisie games.
