Russian newspaper Izvestia has suggested that Rubin Kazan are looking to sign Catania striker Maxi Lopez.
The Russian giants have big ambitions ahead of the new season and they have been linked with a number of high-profile players.
According to Izvestia, Rubin Kazan will attempt to sign Argentine striker Maxi Lopez from Catania.
The 29-year-old has two years left on his deal at Stadio Angelo Massimino, but there is every chance he will be leaving the Elephants this summer.
Lopez has spent this season on loan at Samdoria, and it looks as though he won’t be returning to his parent club.
The player’s official representative has hinted that his client could be interested in Sampdoria stay, but a lucrative offer from Russia would probably change his mind.
Maxi Lopez already has some Russian Premier League experience, having spent two and a half years at FC Moscow.
