Rubin Kazan jumped back to the top spot in the Russian league following a 2-0 win over Lokomotiv Moscow on Saturday.
The defending champions needed only eight minutes for Sergei Semak to open the score, and Gokdeniz Karadeniz made it 2-0 shortly after half time.
Rubin now have 21 points from ten points, enough to move into first place at the expense of CSKA Moscow, who do have Sunday’s game with Kuban Krasnodar ahead.
Spartak Moscow are third following a 5-1 win over Amkar Perm, with home goals from Welliton (2), Alex (2) and Nikita Bazhenov.
