Russian daily Izvestia is reporting that Rubin Kazan are preparing a fresh assault on Fiorentina defender Facundo Roncaglia.
The Russian giants are in the market to sign a replacement for Salvatore Bocchetti, and they have been linked with a move for the Argentine defender.
Roncaglia’s representative has revealed that his client was on the verge of joining Rubin in the winter transfer window.
“In January we were in serious negotiations with Russian Rubin, but after discussing the issues with Fiorentina, it was decided that the player remain in Italy until the summer,” agent Claudio Curti told Izvestia.
According to the Russian newspaper, Rubin are keen to return for the highly rated defender in the summer, when Viola might decide to negotiate his sale.
Roncaglia joined the Artemio Franchi outfit on a free transfer from Boca Juniors last summer, and enjoyed a bright start to his career in Italy.
However, he has since lost his place in the starting line-up and may decide to leave Fiorentina in the search of first team football.
The 26-year-old, who holds an Italian passport, is eager to break into the Italy national team and is aware that the lack of first team opportunities is not aiding his cause.
