Russian duo attracting offers

Russia’s wonderful Euro 2008 campaign has showcased the nation’s best players to the world’s top clubs. Now these players are in high demand across Europe. Andrei Arshavin has announced his intention to play for Barcelona, but Arsenal was rumoured to have made an approach for the winger. Full-back Zhirkov has also attracted interest, according to Setanta Sports.

“Given the team’s performance, I think the transfer value has grown for Arshavin, Yuri Zhirkov and Igor Akinfeev – three players who may leave to play abroad,” said Arshavin’s agent, according to the television station.

“Zenit have received more than five proposals from England and France, but Arshavin wants to go to Spain – football that is suited for him.

“His transfer price is about €20 million. Zhirkov’s is close to that amount. Zhirkov could play in England and in Germany and Italy.”

Apart form Arsenal and Barcelona, Manchester United is the latest club rumoured to be preparing a bid for the pacy playmaker.

I think it is outragesly wrong to buy and sell players. We fought for the democracy and civilizations. What is happening to the sport, which we love so much. You watch the game and then it goes to slavery and buying and selling of players. I do know, that they/the players want to make millions, but at what cost. This is so immoral. I do hope that the practice get cut off at the root some time soon. All the same I do enjoy the game tromendously.Keep up the good play.
