Russian newspaper Izvestia is reporting that CSKA Moscow and Zenit St Petersburg are readying January bids for Anzhi star Odil Akhmedov.
Together with Lacina Traore, the 25-year-old is one of just a handful of high-profile players that have remained at the club following drastic budget cuts this summer.
However, chances are that he will be leaving as early as January, with CSKA Moscow and Zenit believed to be keen.
The Army Men are eager to reinforce their midfield area with the Uzbekistan international, who is widely regarded as one of top holding midfielders in Russian Premier League.
Nevertheless, they could face a stiff competition from Zenit, seeing as how the club from St Petersburg have already opened talks with the player’s representatives.
The two cubs are also locked in the battle for the Russian Premier League title, with Zenit 2/3 favourites at the moment and CSKA Moscow priced at 11/2.
