Portuguese daily newspaper Record claims that clubs from Russia are showing interest in Sporting CP defender Sebastian Coates.
The 26-year-old managed to kick-start his career at Estadio Jose Alvalade after a disappointing spell with Liverpool and the Lions eventually purchased his contract for €5 million.
Coates has done so well since joining Sporting CP that clubs from abroad are now showing interest in his services, with Russian Premier League sides especially keen.
According to Record, Spartak Moscow and Zenit are prepared to offer €15 million for the Uruguayan centre-back, but that doesn’t mean the experienced footballer will be leaving the Lions.
Namely, Sporting CP chairman Bruno de Carvalho has told interested sides that Coates is not for sale as he is too important to the club.
The Uruguay international has been in fine form this season, making 30 Primeira Liga appearances and scoring 30 goals.
