(GSM) – Zenit St. Petersburg earned a comfortable 0-3 win at Lokomotiv Moskva on Sunday to defend their lead in the Russian Premier League.
Lokomotic struggled to defend Zenit’s attacks from the start and conceded the first goal in the 16th minute when Venezuelan Danny directed the ball past the opposing goalkeeper.
Alexander Bukharov made it 0-2 in the 68th minute and midfielder Roman Shirokov added a third ten minutes later.
Zenit are now six points ahead of defending champions Rubin Kazan, and have two games in hand.
Third-placed CSKA Moscow had little difficulty beating newcomers Alaniya Vladikavkaz, with Seydou Doumbia scoring the opener after only four minutes.
Zoran Tosic doubled the gap in the 69th minute and George Florescu’s converted penalty in added time was too little, too late for the visitors.
