According to AD/Sportwereld, Eredivisie giants PSV are on the verge of appointing Fred Rutten as their new head coach. The former Twente boss was fired at Schalke about two weeks ago.
PSV parted company with Huub Stevens in January due to the disappointing results and the coach’s troubled relationship with the majority of the first team squad.
They appointed Dwight Lodeweges as caretaker manager and have been looking for permanent replacement ever since. Klaus Toppmoller, Ronald Koeman and Co Adriaanse were all among the touted candidates, but Rutten was PSV’s primary target from the beginning.
