Brighton and Hove Albion manager Graham Potter has admitted goalkeeper Matt Ryan would be allowed to leave the club should he ask for it in the light of losing his place in the team.
The Australia international was dropped for Brighton’s 0-0 draw away to Fulham in midweek and again at home against Sheffield United on Sunday, and was replaced by 23-year-old Robert Sanchez in both games.
Speaking to the press ahead of match against the Blades, Potter was asked whether this means we wouldn’t see Ryan play for Brighton again. He replied that he didn’t feel the situation was as serious as that, and that Sanchez needed the same chance Ryan was given.
However, he also made it clear he would not stand in the way of the 28-year-old, who was the regular number one between the posts for his team until the Fulham clash, should he ask to leave in search of regular game-time.
