Hosts Venezuela have won their first final round match at the Sudamericano Sub-20, coming back from behind to beat Colombia 2-1.

A well-directed shot from Elkin Blanco gave Colombia a deserved lead on 13 minutes but a penalty caused by keeper Camilo Vargas allowed Jonathan Del Valle to equalise in the 35th.

The rather controversial winning goal came on the hour mark. A Venezuelan counter-attack seemingly left a Colombian defender fouled but referee Saul Laverni waved play on. Carlos Fernandes converted the attack for 2-1.

After day one of the final stage, Brazil lead the group with Venezuela following in second place. Argentina and Paraguay share third place, Colombia are fifth and Uruguay occupy sixth place.
