Bayern Munich’s 2023/24 DFB-Pokal campaign came to a crashing end on Wednesday, as third-tier side Saarbrucken knocked the Bavarians out at their Ludwigsparkstadion.
It seemed it would be business as usual when Thomas Muller broke the deadlock for the visitors in the 16th minute, but the hosts struck back and scored in the stoppage time of both halves, courtesy of Patrick Sontheimer (45+1′) and Marcel Gaus (90+6′), sending the stadium into a frenzy.
Understandably, the players and staff went into wild-celebration mode themselves when the final whistle rang out. A huge day in the history of the club.
This is the moment Bayern Munich were knocked out of the DFB Pokal to a third-tier Saarbrucken.
The full time whistle goes. The Saarbrucken players go wild. It’s fairytale stuff. 💙💛#DFBPokal #OptusSport pic.twitter.com/324qY5f9NY
