Sagna accuses Johnson of deliberate hit

Arsenal and France defender Bacary Sagna has blamed Norwich’s Bradley Johnson for breaking his leg on Saturday.

Sagna clashed with Johnson in the first half of their 3-3 draw with Norwich and tried to play on before being stretchered off.

After the game, manager Arsene Wenger revealed the right-back had suffered a broken fibula in his right leg – the same injury that kept him out for four month earlier in the season.

Sagna blasted the Norwich midfielder and believes the former Arsenal trainee deliberately stepped on his leg.

“At the beginning, he goes on my raised leg, the action continues,” Sagna told L’Equipe.

“When I wanted to control the ball, I felt a cracking, like the first time at Tottenham. I think that he did that on purpose. He put his foot on the level of the plate of the preceding fracture. I think that this made pressure.”

The injury means the French full-back will miss France’s Euro 2012 campaign.

“Inevitably, I am disappointed. It makes me sad, especially in front of my parents. All the family had come to this match,” the 29-year-old said.

“At the first moment, I didn’t even think of it (that he will miss the Euros). I didn’t even think that it was so serious. I believed that it was the muscle which was stretched or a tendon which had yielded.

“But it’s like that. It’s football. I am not the first at which that comes. It’s a relapse. We will start again. I returned the first time, I will return a second, even stronger.”
