(GSM) – Arsenal full-back Bacary Sagna says Emir Spahic would be welcome at the Emirates should he seal a possible switch to England.

Sagna believes the Montpellier defender is ‘a really good player’ and would be happy to play alongside him.

Meanwhile, Spahic has been quoted as saying he would be interested in a switch to the Gunners but Montpellier have denied that Arsenal have made any contact to sign the Bosnian defender.

Gunners’ boss Arsene Wenger is keen to add a defender to his thin squad as he has only signed one defender this summer with Laurent Koscielny moving to the Emirates from Lorient.

And Sagna spoke about Arsenal target Spahic to Le Foot Hebdo: “I have followed him a lot last season in Le Championnat de France. He is a really good player.

“He is gifted enough to join a club like Arsenal. If he does join the club, he would be welcomed.”
