Saints eyeing Taylor as Shaw replacement

Southampton have been linked with a move for Swansea City left back Neil Taylor as they prepare for life without Luke Shaw, the Express understands.

The Wales international’s representative has said that his client would welcome a move away from the Liberty Stadium if he is not guaranteed as starting berth under Garry Monk, and the Saints are monitoring the situation.

Having missed the majority of the 2012/13 campaign through injury, Taylor made just ten league appearances for the South Wales club last season.

Shaw, who is currently with England preparing for Thursday’s crucial World Cup clash with Uruguay, is expected to secure a move to either Manchester United or Chelsea when he returns from Brazil.

Southampton announced former Dutch international Ronald Koeman as their new manager yesterday, though with the side set to lose a number of their star players this summer, you may be tempted to back them at 7/1 to be relegated next season.
