Salah hints at permanent Fiorentina switch

Chelsea winger Mohamed Salah has made it clear that he does not plan to return to Stamford Bridge when his loan deal at Fiorentina expires.

The Egyptian moved to Artemio Franchi on a six-month loan as part of the deal taking Juan Guillermo Cuadrado to Stamford Bridge, and he appears delighted to have left the Blues.

Salah is hoping to kick-start his career in Italian Serie A, but he has suggested he is not looking to return to Chelsea.

“At the moment I don’t intend to return to Chelsea,” Salah said at his official presentation.

“I want to do well with Fiorentina. I spoke with Mourinho and told him I wanted to leave Chelsea and he was fine.

“The Italian League is of a high standard, I think that those do it simply to broaden their horizons and have new experiences.

Mohamed Salah joined Chelsea from FC Basel in January 2014, but he largely struggled to make an impact in England.

The 22-year-old went on to make 13 Premier League appearances, but he last started a league fixture back in June.

Salah could find it hard to nail down a regular starting berth at Fiorentina as well, seeing as Viola are spoilt for options up front now that Alberto Gilardino and Alessandro Diamanti have also joined.
