Salomon Rondon heads to Zenit

Zenit St Petersburg have signed Venezuelan striker Jose Salomon Rondon from Rubin Kazan for an undisclosed fee.

The Russian Premier League giants had been on a lookout for a new centre forward and they managed to reach an agreement with their league rivals on the final day of the winter transfer window.

Salomon Rondon in turn put pen to paper on a five-year deal and he will wear number 9 in the second part of the season.

The Venezuelan moved to Russian Premier League in the summer of 2012 following a very successful spell with Malaga that saw him bag 25 goals in 67 La Liga outings.

He has since proved his worth at Rubin Kazan, netting 13 times in 36 league matches, while adding another 11 goals in 20 Europa League games.

Having joined one of Russia’ top clubs, Rondon will certainly be hoping to start winning some silverware soon.
