Newcastle are keeping close tabs on Leeds United full-back Sam Byram, Daily Mirror has revealed.
The highly rated defender is heavily linked with a January move to the Premiership, with Manchester City, Everton and West Bromwich already showing interest.
Daily Mirror has now suggested that Newcastle boss Alan Pardew is a keen admirer of the player and is hoping to add him to his ranks in the near future.
The Magpies will have a chance to run the rule on Byram when the two sides square off in the Capital One Cup this evening, where Newcastle are 8/11 to return to winning ways.
While Leeds United are eager to keep hold on their star player for as long as possible, it is believed an offer in the region of £8 million would be enough to prize him away from Elland Road.
The 20-year-old defender exploded onto the biggest stage last season, when he netted 3 times in 44 Championship appearances for the Whites.
