Russian side Anzhi Makhachkala are set to re-sign defender Christopher Samba from Queens Park Rangers, according to the Mirror.
The 29 year old arrived at Loftus Road just six months ago for a club record £12.5million, but was unable to help Harry Redknapp’s side retain their Premier League status.
The Hoops’ manager had long been an admirer of the former Blackburn Rovers man, having been linked with a move for him during his time at Tottenham Hotspur.
However, he failed to live up to his billing, and famously drew criticism following a poor performance in a 3-2 defeat to rivals Fulham which all but confirmed the R’s relegation.
He then hit back at the clubs fans who questioned his worth, taking to Twitter to tell them to ‘grow up’.
Anzhi are set to pay £12million for the Congolese international, who racked up thirty-nine appearances for them in a twelve month period before he moved to London.
Rangers have also parted company with fellow high earners Djibril Cisse, Jay Bothroyd and DJ Campbell as they look to build a squad capable of securing an immediate return to the top flight.
