Christopher Samba, still seething over the sacking of Sam Allardyce, has reiterated his desire to leave Blackburn Rovers.
The Blackburn skipper last week announced his intention to walk out because of the dismissal of Allardyce, who was removed by the club’s new owners, Venky’s, despite guiding the club to tenth place in the English Premier League last season.
Samba, 26, moved to Blackburn from Hertha Berlin in 2007, and has since built a formidable defensive partnership with New Zealand international Ryan Nelson.
But it appears the French-born Republic of Congo international is now determined to call time on his tenure at Ewood Park.
“This is my fifth season here. I’ve had ups and downs but today I don’t want to waste any more time,” Samba told L’Equipe.
“New owners have arrived, they have fired the coach when he saved us from relegation two years ago.”
“The least they could have done is come to us and explain their project. They haven’t done that, it’s a lack of respect. I don’t want to be part of it.”
Blackburn have been linked this week with audacious bids for ageing stars David Beckham and Ronaldinho.
While Samba remains deeply sceptical of the owners’ ability to match his own ambition, he did offer a glimmer of hope that some major activity in the transfer market could persuade him to reconsider.
“He (coach Steve Kean) told me he had resources to build a good team. We’ll see.”
“Today I want to go higher and I wonder if Blackburn can take me there. I’ll take time to think.”
