Sami Khedira nears Premiership switch

German daily newspaper Bild has learned that Real Madrid midfielder Sami Khedira is almost certain to move to England at the end of the season.

His contract at Santiago Bernabeu is due to expire in the summer and it is already clear the Germany international will not be extending his stay in Madrid.

The club chiefs were angry at Khedira for attending Cristiano Ronaldo’s birthday party after the 4-0 loss to Atletico Madrid when he was advised to rest after suffering a muscle injury.

And while media in Spain reported that the 27-year-old had already agreed a deal with a Bundesliga side, the player has moved to deny the rumours.

“That is not true. My future is still open,” Khedira told Bild.

The German media outlet claims that the midfielder has received several offers from English Premier League and is widely expected to accept one of those.

Sami Khedira has spent last four and a half years at Santiago Bernabeu, making a total of 102 La Liga appearances.
