Bayern Munich sporting director Matthias Sammer says his side will not take the DFB Pokal final against Stuttgart lightly.
The German Cup final will be held on June 1 in Berlin, one week after Bayern take on Borussia Dortmund in the UEFA Champions League decider at Wembley, and could be the final hurdle in an historic treble, after their Bundesliga title success.
And Sammer insisted Bayern will be going all out in the Cup final.
“For me personally, I think you should always try to win what you can,” Sammer said.
“Of course, our priority lies in the UEFA Champions League final but we definitely want to win the DFB Pokal too.
“I can only speak for myself but for me there is no ranking (of which cup is more valuable). I want to win both titles.”
Sammer praised the impact of midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger this season, citing the 28-year-old as a ‘crucial’ part of the squad.
“I think he is what makes us tick, our brain,” Sammer said.
“He has so much quality and so much anticipation. So he is a crucial part of the team.
“What I like the most is his concentration on the pitch and his charisma. Besides Philipp Lahm, Manuel Neuer and Dante, he is our absolute leader.”
