Competition: Serie A
Market: Sampdoria win
Odds: 13/8 @ 888sport
With the chance to extend on what has been a glittering purple patch at the end of the year, a high-flying Sampdoria will make the trip to a downbeat Stadio Ennio Tardini on Sunday afternoon.
Starting with the hosts, while an eye-catching first half of the campaign may have shocked many across Serie A, Parma have found themselves coming crashing back down to earth. Completely blown away in what was a 3-1 drumming away at AC Milan last time out, the Crusaders have lost five of their last six top-flight contests and have managed to land just a sole point over the past month. Freefalling down the standings and in the midst of their worst run of the season so far, Head Coach Roberto D’Aversa will have a growing headache over his side’s continued issues at the back. Lucky to have just seen AC grab just a trio of strikes in midweek, Parma have shipped at least a pair of goals in each of their last six appearances and have failed to record a clean sheet since returning to action.
As for the visitors, while the mood in Parma’s camp might be at a season-low, Sampdoria have really started to shine at the back end of the campaign. With their sights set on breaking into the top-10, Claudio Ranieri’s men once again gained a string of plaudits for their dominant 3-0 romp against Cagliari earlier in the week. Now winning four of their last five Serie A appearances and bouncing back from their 2-0 defeat against a high-flying Atalanta, I Blucerchiati have really started to shine in the final third. Bagging a trio of strikes in their previous three Serie A victories on the bounce, the duo of Manolo Gabbiadni and Fedrico Bonazzoli have now bagged six goals in their last three top-flight appearances. Picking up a 3-1 win away at Udinese in their last contest on the road, Sampdoria should be confident of making another statement this weekend.
