Sampdoria captain signs new deal

Sampdoria captain Angelo Palombo has extended his contract at the club until 2015, thus signaling his intention to remain at Stadio Communale.

After Antonio Cassano and Giampaolo Pazzini left the club, Sampdoria desperately needed to keep hold of their captain and the fans will be delighted Palombo has signed a new deal.

“I am happy,” Palombo said. “By now I am effectively a fan, as I feel Sampdoria through and through.

“Samp are my second family, even though it may seem like a cliché. Extending my contract was my only desire.

“I recently had my 300th game for the club. If everything goes as expected, then I can close in on legends like Fausto Pari, Pietro Vierchowod and Moreno Mannini. Reaching Roberto Mancini’s level will be difficult, but I’ll do my best.”
