Il Corriere dello Sport understands that Sampdoria are on the verge of agreeing a deal for Everton forward Samuel Eto’o.
The Blucerchiati have recruited Luis Muriel to replace Manolo Gabbiadini, but they appear hot on the trail of the Cameroon star as well.
It is believed that Sampdoria officials have already agreed personal terms with the forward, although they have yet to find an agreement with Everton.
Eto’o has a contract until June 2016 with the Toffees, but recent reports are suggesting he could be leaving as early as this month.
The 33-year-old has done fairly well since joining Everton from Chelsea in the summer, bagging 3 goals in 14 Premier League appearances.
But, with the Toffees currently in the bottom half of the Premier League standings, it is hardly surprising Eto’o is considering his options.
Meanwhile, Sampdoria are still very much in the race for Champions League positions and they can be backed at 16/1 to achieve a top 3 finish.
