Italian Serie A side Sampdoria hope to complete the signing of Tonny Vilhena from Feyenoord in the coming days, according to Tuttosport.
The Blucerchiati decided to step up their interest in the talented midfielder as Roberto Soriano nears AC Milan move, and the talks are moving in the right direction.
What is more, Sampdoria have managed to reach an agreement with both Feyenoord and the player’s representatives, but Vilhena has yet to agree to a transfer due to serious personal issues.
The Blucerchiati chairman Massimo Ferrero has travelled to Rotterdam to try and convince the midfielder himself as everybody at Stadio Marassi is eager for the Netherlands international to join.
Despite his fragile age, the 20-year-old has already shown a great deal of promise, scoring 10 goals in 88 Eredivisie appearances.
Vilhena is a key member of the Netherlands Under-21 side, while he was also in the senior squad for 2014 World Cup qualifiers against Estonia and Romania.
