Serie A side Sampdoria have all but confirmed they will sell star player Lucas Torreira this summer.
The Blucerchiati have enjoyed a promising campaign despite missing out on European qualification and they are now turning towards the summer transfer window.
Sampdoria chiefs first need to ensure that talented coach Marco Giampaolo stays and chairman Massimo Ferrero is confident he will remain in Genoa.
“Giampaolo? He’ll certainly stay,” Ferrero told Il Secolo XIX.
“I’ve always said that. After that, he has a contract. Of course we’ll talk about the future next week, once the season finishes. On my part, there’s no doubt.”
Meanwhile, Ferrero has all but confirmed that in-demand midfielder Lucas Torreira will leave the club.
“Players leaving? It’s not like keeping horses in a stable. I’m not a stable boy: I think Torreira will leave, it’s time for him to fly away, but everyone else will stay.
“Sampdoria are one of the best clubs for raising youngsters, but once they grow, we sell them to big teams in England and Germany, have you noticed?”
Lucas Torreira has been heavily linked with a summer move to Napoli, and the Azzurri could sign him as a replacement for Man City bound Jorginho.
