Sampdoria’s hot-shot midfielder Lucas Torreira has gone through a stellar rise over the past couple of months.
The 21-year-old Uruguay youth international has been putting in a series of imperial displays for the Serie A outfit and his formidable exploits have not gone unnoticed.
A determined defensive midfielder, who is strong in tackles and has a good eye for goal, impressed once again in his side’s 3-2 victory over Juventus last weekend.
Torreira scored a goal to round off a fantastic display during which his stock reached new heights, turning him into one of the hottest commodities in the Italian football.
Premier League strugglers Everton are only one of the European clubs linked with a move for Lucas Torreira, who has also been heavily linked with a big-money move to Atletico Madrid.
Sampdoria sporting director Carlo Osti moved on to disappoint all interested parties by claiming Torreira would be going nowhere during the January transfer market.
“Torreira has gone from Serie B to A with ridiculous ease. It was said that if he scored even just a few goals, he’d be perfect. He’s already scored three and my phone rang continuously on Monday. Still, no-one will leave in January, even if everyone’s already asking me about him.”, he told La Repubblica.
