Sampdoria to keep a trio of stars

Sampdoria club officials have confirmed that Antonio Cassano, Giampaolo Pazzini and Reto Ziegler will remain at the club for the coming season.

The trio have been linked with carious summer moves but the club are adamant they will not sell.

“I keep hearing that Cassano, Pazzini and Ziegler will be leaving, but all three will remain,” sporting director Sergio Gasparin noted.

“We are presently talking to Ziegler in an effort to reach an agreement over a contract extension.”

Antonio Cassano and Giampaolo Pazzini were linked with a move to Inter and Juventus respectively, whereas Reto Ziegler attracted interest from Liverpool, but it is no clear the deals will not materialize.
