Sampdoria to make a move on Ilicic

Il Corriere dello Sport is reporting that Serie A outfit Sampdoria are weighing up a January bid for Fiorentina midfielder Josip Ilicic.

The Bluecercchiati have enjoyed a brilliant start to the new campaign, climbing to fourth in the league standings and they are determined to build on the recent success.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport, Sampdoria officials aim to further reinforce the squad in January, with Fiorentina’s Josip Ilicic one of their primary targets.

The Marassi outfit hope to sign the Slovenian on a six-month loan with an option to buy at the end of the season.

And even if Fiorentina paid €9 million for the midfielder two years ago, they seem prepared to cut their losses and offload Ilicic at the earliest opportunity.

After extending the impressive run of results with a 3-1 away win over Hellas Verona, Sampdoria are 8/1 shot to shock leaders Juventus in Turin.
