(GSM) – Inter forward, Samuel Eto’o praises Lionel Messi as “a God of football,” but warns Inter are not afraid of Barcelona.
The Cameroon international knows this team well, as he only left them in the summer as part of an exchange with Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
“If there is a God of football right now, his name has to be Messi, just as it’s impossible not to say that the best team in the world at this moment is Barcelona,” he said ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League semi-final.
“However, in football anything can happen. We want to reach this dream and have the right to dream,” he added.
Eto’o had a difficult start to his Serie A career, but has truly hit form recently with important goals against Fiorentina in the Coppa Italia semi-final and Juventus.
“I feel really good at the moment and am prepared to work hard for everyone. I won’t say I’m at peak fitness, because in my view there is always something that can be improved. A peak does not exist.”
“I had a few problems at the start, as it is not easy to adapt to a new position in a diamond midfield.”
“Now we always seem to attack with four players and things are working much better,” Eto’o explained.
