Sandro Tonali, who left AC Milan to join Newcastle this summer, played 72 minutes against his former club in the opening game of the Champions League campaign on Tuesday, and speaking to Italian outlet Mediaset afterwards, he refused to rule out returning to play for the Rossoneri once more in the future.
The 23-year-old midfielder, who helped Milan win the Scudetto in 2021/22, also revealed his love for the Italian giants.
It’s hardly unheard of for players to return to one of their former clubs after stints, both successful and unsuccessful, elsewhere, so Tonali certainly wouldn’t be the first to do so if it comes to pass one day, but for the time being, he is under contract with Newcastle until 2028 and unless much goes amiss at St. James’ Park until then, it’s hard to imagine the Magpies allowing him to leave.
Sandro Tonali: “Return to AC Milan one day? I don’t know… I’d pay to know my future. Maybe yes, maybe not. Football is strange”, tells Mediaset 🔴⚫️🇮🇹
