La Liga hotshots Atletico Madrid have all but secured a deal to sign PSV Eindhoven defender Santiago Arias.
Los Rojiblancos have identified the highly-rated Colombian as a direct replacement for Inter Milan bound Sime Vrsaljko who is expected to move back to Italy this week.
Multiple sources in Italy are now confirming that the 26-year-old right-back who spent the last five years playing for the Eredivisie giants will make the next big step in his career after impressive during the summer’s World Cup with Colombia.
Santiago Arias was previously linked with Napoli but it appears that Atletico Madrid won the race for the widely sought-after defender.
Arias was one of the crucial cogs in PSV’s title charge last season. He made the total of 30 top-flight appearances and scored three goals along the way.
He moved to PSV from Sporting in 2013 as a youngster and was fast-tracked into the first team ahead of the 2014/15 season after impressing at Jong PSV.
