Atletico Madrid’s one-year transfer ban imposed by FIFA after Rojiblancos registered international players under the age of 18 will not affect the club’s transfer plans for the future.
Despite the fact they will not be able to sign any players in 2017, Atletico Madrid have begun compiling a list of potential signings and Santiago Ascacibar is reported to be on top of the wish list.
Spanish media outlet Mundo Deportivo have learned that Diego Simeone’s close friend Nelson Vivas has recommended the 19-year-old Argentina midfielder, who is currently playing for his boyhood club Estudiantes de La Plata and is tipped to make a great name for himself in the future.
Santiago Ascacibar broke into the Estudiantes first-team this season, but has been widely impressive with his commanding displays in the middle of the pitch.
A dedicated hard-worker has attracted plenty of interest after the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio and Atletico Madrid are keeping a close eye on the player they will be able to sign in 2018.
