According to Talk Sport, Newcastle full-back Davide Santon is attracting attention from Italian side Lazio over a possible move to the club in this summer’s transfer window.
Santon only joined the Magpies last summer and made 19 starts for them in the English Premier League last season in what was a fairly mixed time in the North East.
He had been tipped to be one of the biggest talents in Europe when he was at Inter Milan, however was allowed to leave for £5 million a year ago.
New boss at Lazio Vladimir Petkovic seems keen to bring the Italian international back to his home nation.
Newcastle may be reluctant to let Santon go though as he has not been at the Sports Direct Arena for long. At just 21-years-old he still has plenty of potential and is likely to only get better as the years go on.
The former Inter Milan man will know how important regular first team football is though and if he cannot get this under Alan Pardew, may feel as though it is time to move on – especially if more defenders arrive at Newcastle between now and the start of the season.
We shall see.
