Two sides who are enduring very different seasons, Santos will look to continue their top four push when they welcome a struggling Chapecoense side to the Estádio Urbano Caldeira on Monday.

Starting with Cuca’s Santos side, since bringing in their new boss back in August, it has been quite the rise for Alvinegro Praiano. While they might be coming off the back of an incredibly close 3-2 defeat away to runaway league leaders Palmeiras last week, Santos’ rise up the table now sees them within touching distance of climbing into the Copa Libertadores qualifying positions. Now winning their last three matches at the Estádio Urbano Caldeira, they have now gone over 300 minutes without conceding a goal on home soil.

In contrast to the hosts, things could not have gone any worse for Chapecoense this season. Coming off the back of a 1-0 loss against Bahia last weekend, Verdão’s poor form has now seen them freefall down to 19th in the table. Now losing three of their last four matches in Serie A, it will be their form in the final third giving Claudinei Oliveira the biggest headache. Along with failing to win any of their matches on the road this season, Chapecoense have also now scored just one goal since the 6th of October.
